Order of Operations

This one Lexi learnt last year

  1. Brackets

 Here’s our version

  1. Brackets first to quench your thirst

  3. Next comes division so you don’t loose your vision
  4. Multiplication so you you can go on vacation
  5. Do the addition nearly finish the mission
  6. Take-away last it’s over very fast

Can you make up your own?

Interesting News

The Jungle Tribe that Time forgot….
This article was interesting because we found a tribe that could have lived hundreds of years ago and they still have not changed. They were unusual because they painted themselves with red paint and dressed only in animal skins. It is interesting to find a tribe in the Amazon Rainforest of South America in 2008 when other tribes in South America stopped hundreds of years ago. These people have never touched people from out of their tribe and have lived without other people. They have not seen technology before. The weaponry they used was related to the weaponry that the aborigines used. The way they acted and sheltered was interesting because it was the way their ancestors sheltered.

Sport by Isobel

On Wednesdays 4/5M go to sport with Mr Davis.  At sport we learn lots of different skills.  We have played spors like Oz-tag and Cricket.  when we played Oz- tag we leart how to grab a tag.  When we played Cricket we learnt how to bowl and hit the ball with the bat. We have learnt lots of fundemental movement skills like dodging and kicking a ball. We also have played some games like knee-tap.

If it is wet we have a booklet that we do some work in or we play some games like a debate and we have a topic that we have to agree or disagree to ( or be unsure ).  Once we had boys should be paid more than girls in sport.

In terms 1 and 2 we are going to do PE and in terms 3 and 4 we are going to do music.

I liked Oz-tag best because we got to learn how to grab each others tags and it was really fun.  What sport did you like best and why?

Our Class pet Nibbles!

Nibbles is our class pet. She is a female Budgie. Nibbles is green on her chest, black on wings. She a yellow head and black and blue tail.

Nibbles lives up to her name, she likes to nibble on peoples fingers. We replace Nibbles food and water, every Friday. We make sure Nibbles has enough to last her the weekend. We also put a new plastic bag in bottom of the cage, so we can replace it when it gets dirty, this is for Nibbles droppings. Every Monday we come back to a very messy cage.

Our class takes turns cleanig out her cage. We learn how to look after a bird and it will be very valuable in life. We love Nibbles with all our hearts.

Sounds by Meilun and Ashlee

Things we learnt from the WillowWeb podcast:

  • Brain has sound memories
  • Dolphins can hear better than other animal
  • Sound can travel through walls
  • We hear because of sound waves made by vibrations
  • The shape of our ears help us hear sounds
  • If sound bounces off a wall it’s an echo
  • Kids can hear better than adults
  • Part of our 5 senses
  • Babies can hear before they are born
  • Quick vibration make a high pitch sound and slow vibrations make a low sound.

Things we found interesting about the way the podcast was made:

  • Some people liked the jokes some thought they weren’t really funny
  • Lots of interesting infromation
  • Different music
  • Well set out with sements
  • They had a quiz, it was a little bit too easy
  • Year 3
  • They said a lot of things that people might not know
  • Took turns
  • We thought it could go for a bit longer.
  • All the different sounds there are

What we would do:

  • Say information about sounds that they might not know
  • Make it stand out
  • Make some quizes to test other people on their knowledge about sounds
  • Show pictures to go with the topic
  • Take turns

Sounds we heard:

  • Bowling balls knocking the pins
  • Dogs barking
  • Tower bells were ringing
  • Water bubbles
  • Rain pouring
  • Race cars
  • Cows mooing
  • Sheeps
