Olympic Robots

The chinese have made the Beijing Mascots into robots. Apparently the Beijing Mascots Beibei, Jingjing, Haunhaun, Yingying and Nini robots are going to be roaming around Beijing greeting all the olympians that have came from overseas to china. I know, pretty interesting. I wonder what the olympian’s reactions will be. By Tim!

The mascots Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying, Yingying, Nini comes from the words Beijing welcomes you. In chinese it is Bei Jing huan yin ni.  by Albert

Tree Planting writing competition

First place winning entries

Chenaya’s letter

Dear Sir

I strongly believe we should plant more trees around our community and I will now explain to you the reasons why I feel like this.

Firstly, trees are very important because they take in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen. This is very important because if we didn’t have carbon dioxide and oxygen we wouldn’t be able to breathe at all.

Trees also stop erosion and provide food, shelter and great hiding places for animals and insects. They also provide us with paper, wood, school products, furniture and firewood.

Trees are also very attractive and you can go exploring and play many games in them. You can go exploring and make interesting toys out of wood from trees.

Please make people plant more trees around our environment so we can breathe, not have much pollution and save the world.

Yours sincerely

Chenaya

Jay’s letter

Dear sir,

Firstly trees provide us with oxygen. Trees reduce pollution along highways and roads. They take in carbon doioxcide and put out oxygen. If we don’t have oxygenwe could die from the lack of it.

Secondly by cutting down trees we are making more pollution and less clean air. If this pollution keeps increasing then the whole world will become hotter causing the ice to melt and making a global flood.

Thirdly they provide shade and and homes for animals. Its like someone cutting down your house. Where will all the animals find more trees if there are no trees.

Lastly they provide us with fun. Children love to climb and build tree houses in them or make them into tree forts.

The council is cutting down more trees than necessary. We should only cut down the minimum of trees.

So I strongly beleive that we should stop cutting down trees and start planting them.

Your sincerely

Jay
