“Best Friend” Poems Pig Extraordinaire

                                   Wilbur, you are Radiant

“Some pig “is what you are.

                                    Absolutely wonderful,

                                   You’re certainly a star.

                                  Wilbur you’re terrific!

                                  You deserve top prize

                                  Your talent is exceptional.

                                  You are a perfect prize.

                                 Wilbur, you are humble,

                                 A pig beyond compare,

                                 Innocent and Charming,

                                 A pig extraordinaire.

Sport by Isobel

On Wednesdays 4/5M go to sport with Mr Davis.  At sport we learn lots of different skills.  We have played spors like Oz-tag and Cricket.  when we played Oz- tag we leart how to grab a tag.  When we played Cricket we learnt how to bowl and hit the ball with the bat. We have learnt lots of fundemental movement skills like dodging and kicking a ball. We also have played some games like knee-tap.

If it is wet we have a booklet that we do some work in or we play some games like a debate and we have a topic that we have to agree or disagree to ( or be unsure ).  Once we had boys should be paid more than girls in sport.

In terms 1 and 2 we are going to do PE and in terms 3 and 4 we are going to do music.

I liked Oz-tag best because we got to learn how to grab each others tags and it was really fun.  What sport did you like best and why?

Our Class pet Nibbles!

Nibbles is our class pet. She is a female Budgie. Nibbles is green on her chest, black on wings. She a yellow head and black and blue tail.

Nibbles lives up to her name, she likes to nibble on peoples fingers. We replace Nibbles food and water, every Friday. We make sure Nibbles has enough to last her the weekend. We also put a new plastic bag in bottom of the cage, so we can replace it when it gets dirty, this is for Nibbles droppings. Every Monday we come back to a very messy cage.

Our class takes turns cleanig out her cage. We learn how to look after a bird and it will be very valuable in life. We love Nibbles with all our hearts.

On Wednesday the the 27th of May 2008, it was Grandparents Day. On Grandparents Day everyone’s grandparents come to the school to have a look on what has been happening during the year so far. On Grandparents Day there are dances, band, S.R.C, chior, open classrooms and the bookfair. With the book fair this year almost all of the books were gone but the main thing is at everyone had a fantastic time.

Onion Tears Poetry by Jake

Miss Lily’s Garden

No ghosts in the garden

Not one to be seen.

Just Miss Lily and

her floppy hat all

pretty and clean.

Lots of trees

with plums to

make some jam

to cheer Nam Huong up

as much as she can.

Flowers and ferns

all tangled up

Nam Huong is learning lessons

as she grows up.

Comment Challenge

http://seaberry.edublogs.org/2008/05/11/31-day-comment-challenge/

Today we had a very special link to our blog.  A teacher in Florida USA whose blog is called the One Room Schoolhouse  is participating in an online activity called a Comment Challenge has asked her students to use our blog (including Speeches) to learn about blogging and comment on.

I don’t know if we’re up to the comment challenge but have a look at her blog and see if you think we can learn anything and if you see something interesting post a comment.

Class blogging guidelines

I have been looking at other classblogs recently and realised that we should probably have some guidelines for using blogs. Some important ones are:

  • Try to work with a parent or older sibling. It’s more fun and safer.
  • Don’t use any identifying information.

Have a look at these guidelines from Singapore. Are they a good start for us? Can you think of any extra’s?

Re-usable resources

Not all content available on the web is made for you to copy/edit/republish. The great thing is some content is. You have the authors permission, start getting inspired.

This slideshow explains how CC (creative commons) works.

And this movie gives a bit more information about the legal aspects.

What is this thing? It’s a blog!

Watch this video to learn more about blogs.

For us the main things we like about the blog are:

  • It’s spontaneous. It doesn’t matter if we what we write is wrong tomorrow. The important thing is getting your thoughts written down.
  • We can write interesting things (comments) about things that other people in the class have written. It’s like having a conversation on a computer.
