Miss Lily’s Garden

I opened the gate and walked on the grass,

I finally found my sanctuary at last,

Miss Lily’s garden is full of fun,

I can play with Samson till the day is done.

There stands a plum tree as big as can be,

I’d like to climb it, so that I can see

the land that I came from my mum and dad,

The place that I once knew, the place that I had.

A palm tree is there that swings in the breeze,

A ghost is not there, not one that can see,

The flowers and ferns that remind me of home,

A place where Miss Lily and I can roam.

As a part of our unit on Identity and Values Year 5 students looked at the part played by famous Australians in developing who we are as a nation. The humour, the mate-ship, the easy going nature, the inventiveness and the patriotism are all displayed in the characters that we have studied. As well as doctors who have made great advancement in research and development in the medical fields, the talented artists in all fields: authors, singers, painters and movie stars.

Exceptional work Elyse with two examples of Famous Australians
